Cricket Structure and Culture:
The official body of cricket in South Africa is CSA (Cricket South Africa) which is a full member of ICC - Internation Cricket Council and among the top cricket playing nations. The history of formal cricket matches can be traced back to 1889. The South Africa Cricket team has been giving great players and touch cricket matches to all the champion cricket teams. Although they have won the Champions Trophy in 1998 they have still been missing out on the ODI and T20 World titles. Currently playing the ICC World Twenty20 Championship in India, they are among top teams expected to win the title. The domestic cricket in South Africa is structured and has clubs cricket and the national teams for men, women and under 19 age group. The players like Graeme Pollock, G Smith, Shaun Pollock, AB DeVilliers and Amla among the top players in world rankings and have fans around the world. Cricket Clubs in South Africa:
Milnerton Cricket Club celebrated it's 50th year of existence in the 2014/15 season. The Club forms part of the Milnerton Sports Centre and is based at Theo Marais Park on Koeberg Road, Milnerton, Cape Town, South Africa. Club playing facilities include 2 turf wickets, 8 artificial nets and 4 change rooms. The Wanderers Club. It was a group of young rugby players who came together in 1886 as the first Wanderers Rugby Club in Johannesburg, quickly followed by another group calling themselves the Wanderers Cricket Club but the Wanderers Club that still exists today was formed in 1888. Green Point Cricket Club. Our club has a proud history of being one of the top clubs in Cape Town. The Club was founded back in the 1890s and is one of the oldest clubs in South Africa. It is situated in the beautifully picturesque area of the Green Point common and is a neighbour to the new World Cup soccer stadium. We have a long history of having members from all races, cultures and backgrounds.
