The St. Peter's XI Cricket Team (aka VATICAN CC) comprising mainly of Priests and Seminarians are to take part in an inter-faith cricket tournament this month at Miranda do Corvo Cricket Stadium in Portugal.

In this '3rd Light of Faith Tour', St. Peter's team will play 3 other teams from Portugal and UK, including a friendly match against 'Miranda Social XI' and a number of matches against a Hindu Team 'Gurkha s XI' from Portugal and the 'LNCC' from London in the UK.

Miranda do Corvo, PortugalThe LNCC will field a multi-ethnic and multi-faith Team of Muslim, Hindu, Christian and Jewish players. The goal of the tournament is to promote inter-faith dialogue and is believed to be the first cricket tournament of its kind to take place in Continental Europe.

The St. Peter's XI has the Patronage of the Pontifical Council for Culture and have toured to the UK twice in recent years, including matches at Lord's and Headingly.

They have played teams such as the Church of England XI and the Cricket Team of the Royal Household.

Miranda do Corvo is a small town in Central Portugal, in a country better known for its football.

But the town has fast become a 'tour magnet' after dedicating a muti-use stadium exclusively to cricket.

Since 2015, the Stadium has hosted tournaments to include teams from as far afield as Moscow and has grown in popularity exponentially as a pre and post season training facility for teams arriving from the UK
